An invitation to a diverse musical journey:
Shall we dance an Allemande? We start in early French Barock era by Couperin’s delicately refined music with lots of beautiful ornaments. We aren’t done yet with the f-minor tonality; Haydn, aka “father of the symphony” composed un piccolo divertimento— Andante with variations in f-minor in classical period. British composer and pianist John McCabe says that this piece is Haydn's "most extended and most resourceful such work for the keyboard".
The Allegro de concierto of Granados comes suddenly like a lyrical storm with its brilliance. It’s one of the most known composition of Catalan composer and pianist Granados and followed by a globally well known another piece “besame mucho”: yes! The songwriter of besame mucho, Consuelo Velázquez was inspired by the piano piece "Quejas, o la Maja y el Ruiseñor", from the 1911 suite Goyescas, which Granados later also included as "Aria of the Nightingale". Last but not least, with all bitter sweet, hopeful feelings, we are going to remember Gezi Park by Say, through “Nights of the resistance on the streets of Istanbul”, “The silence of a gas cloud”, “On the killing of the innocent child Berkin Elvan” and “Hope is always in our hearts”… thank you for joining me on this journey!
